Christ Church, Owensville

Christ Church in West River, Owensville, is a little more recent, but it's so delightful, that I decided to include it here. It is a Gothic-style board and batten building, long and narrow with an entrance on the south side of the building.
The church is reputed to have been designed by the English church architect, Richard Upjohn. But what probably happened is that the plans came from his 1852 book, Rural Architecture, which included plans for churches. For a similar building, we will look at the chapel at Hannah More in Baltimore County at some point.
The church was built through the generosity of Mrs. Ellen Burwell in memory of two of her children, one of whom died in a sledding accident and the other of yellow fever.
