All Hallows Church, Davidsonville

As I mentioned in the introduction, I attended school in St. Mary's, and the route from Baltimore basically took you down the Solomon's Island Road (Route 2). So, on every trip to and from school, I passed the little All Hallows church in Davidsonville.
All Hallows Church is one of the original "brick churches" on the Chesapeake, having been built in 1710 (an earlier church also stood there). All Hallows is a low, hipped-roof building, with an entrance sheltered by a porch with arched brick pillars.
The church was gutted by fire about 15 years later, but rebuilt in the brick shell. The bell in the tower is dated 1727.

Another fire, this in 1940, permitted a full reconstruction and renovation of the church,
including the brick floor, barrel-vaulted ceiling, wainscoting, clear glass windows and pews with doors.
All in all, this church is a little gem!
